Domenig & Partner is not an old-fashioned law firm. They are digital, young, personal and always thinking one step ahead. The law firm for entrepreneurs specializes, among other things, in IT law, which includes the ever present topic of data protection law. They want to position themselves on the Swiss market as specialists in the field of data protection and pass on their knowledge to various target groups.
In cooperation with Domenig & Partner, the platform datenschutz.law was created. A platform that caters to different target groups, has a strong focus on usability and is implemented with the latest technologies. The website addresses current topics in data protection law, keeps users up to date and serves as a reference work for lawyers.
A special feature of this project is its broad target group. Both experts in the various fields of law, such as lawyers, and laypersons use this platform to find out about data privacy.
Both target groups have different levels of in-depth knowledge about data privacy and in legal language. For this reason, the content of the website must be prepared in such a way that it is understandable for all users, but at the same time provides the lawyer with detailed legal expertise.
To solve this challenge, the website was equipped with an expert mode. As soon as this mode is activated, it hides support information and displays extensions that help experts to find the right legal information on data protection.
The legal vocabulary is very complicated. Without the necessary expertise, many people don't understand a word. In order to prevent this, a glossary was built in, which paraphrases and explains complex technical terms in a simpler way.
The technical feature of this function is that the platform automatically recognizes which technical terms occur in the content. These are displayed on the page as a glossary. No manual linking of the content and the glossary is necessary. This is done by the technology in the background.
The guide explains current topics and questions about data protection in a simple way. So there is no need to study complicated articles and read through laws. Everything you need to know is explained here in a simple and understandable way. Obviously, the glossary is also included.
The expert mode helps the professional to find the right information quickly. The glossary and descriptions are hidden, but new functions and shortcuts are added.
Legislation, information from authorities, case law and the law itself are contents that are strongly interlinked. The platform makes it easier for experts to find an overview of all contributions. Contributions that have a common denominator in terms of content are displayed to the experts as linked contributions. In this way, the user can easily navigate through the various categories and obtain in-depth knowledge about the corresponding topic.
As a lawyer, it is often necessary to copy and quote texts. For this reason, the platform offers the function to simply copy legal texts. If desired, the correct citation is added immediately.
The platform presents all important laws on data privacy online. To ensure that the law is also easy to use as a working tool for the experts, this was presented as intuitively as possible. We have implemented these functions and aids:

The privacy platform was implemented with a headless architecture and the Vue.js-based JavaScript framework NuxtJS. Statamic was used as the content management system (CMS), which enables a component-based and modular structure of the individual pages and posts. Since Statamic is based on the most popular PHP framework Laravel, we were able to draw on Laravel's rich ecosystem for the development.
Newsletters can be easily managed and sent through the connection to Mailchimp. New email addresses from a newsletter registration are automatically imported into Mailchimp by the platform. In addition, the function was developed so that when a new post is published, a newsletter is automatically sent to all subscribers.
